Day 256 Quiet Strength

The LORD replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." Exodus 33:14

Are you stressed out? Worried sick? Worn out? Just plain tired?

I feel that way during seasons of change. It takes me awhile to adjust.

But then I remember to rest in assurance that God will give me rest when the world wants to hand me turmoil.

With rest comes peace.

With peace comes joy.

My worry for the future is given over to the peace giver.

Then His power flows through me and the peace flows like a river.

The Bible tells me in Isaiah 30:15 that "In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength."

Quiet confidence works for me.

Day 88 A Life Apart

And you shall seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

Are you wondering where God is as you walk through the day to day issues you face? Are you seeking Him out? He's there.

Seek God. Love God. Find Joy in God. Hang on to His strength when your strength is gone.

God created you for a relationship. He needs you as much as you need Him. That's why He keeps knocking on the door of your heart.

Although we are in the world, He desires us to set time apart with Him to give us strength to get through this life.

When I seek God in relationship during my morning quiet times, I set my life apart with Him so that together we can touch the world with love and kindness.

A life apart is a life present with God.

I received a sweet email from a young mom we met at the Northwest Ministry Conference last week. I'm so glad she came to our booth to share her journey of raising her daughter who has cerebral palsy. We prayed together and encouraged one another as mothers of special needs children.

I love how God brings sweet people like Kira into my sphere of influence. His design and His master plan is amazing. I want my life to be set apart to encourage and to bless those people God puts in my life.

Who are you going to encourage today? Open your heart to the possibility that God might put someone in your path today that needs a hug or a word of encouragement.

Go forth from your quiet time with God and share His love today.

Day 59 Perfect Work

And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. Mark 1:35

I have to laugh at the timing of this devotional message. This weekend we were away with family and I didn't make enough time in my schedule to sit quietly before the Lord in mediation and prayer.

It was a busy time and I sensed something missing throughout the days.

I've grown so accustomed to those quiet moments with my Jesus that I thirst for them when I choose to move into the business of my day too soon. It's almost like an ache in my heart.

Spending time alone with God rejuvenates my soul and energizes my spirit. This is when God does His perfect work in me. I receive strength and joy in my alone time. It is a deep cleansing breath type of peace that enters my days.

In quietness and prayer I gain wisdom and revelation about the plan God has for me. I have a sharper picture of my life priorities.

Have you ever tried to cut paper or fabric with a dull scissors? It's really hard and the edges are jagged.

When I make time to pray I'm sharpening the tools God has given me and the work He gives me is much easier. I have a sharper picture of my life priorities.

As a writer I love a good pen that flows easily and doesn't leave blobs of ink on my journal page. A good working pen makes my thoughts flow freely on to the paper. It is an important instrument in my toolbox.

A solid prayer life is a tool that makes my days flow smoothly because in that time I give my cares to the Lord so I can walk out my day with joy and peace.

I hope to catch up with typing out my blogs from the mornings spent in the devotional over the weekend. I did have the time each day to meditate on each devotional from this book but I didn't spend as much time in prayer. I don't want to make this a "works" issue where I put unnecessary pressure on myself if I miss a day. That's not God's heart. So if I get my thoughts typed up for my blog, then great. If not, no sweat. Grace. Grace. Grace.
